Jean Prouve Antony Lounge Chair (1954)

Designed at the beginning of the 1950’s for the Cité Universitaire at Antony, near Paris, this chair was one of Prouvé’s last efforts in the field of furniture design. The salient feature of this unique item of seating is its unconventional construction which Prouvé successfully combined with a strikingly dynamic shape. The Antony chair’s frame is made from lacquered steel. The seat is constructed using a molded oak veneer that has a beautiful natural finish. Prouvé Collection, manufactured by Vitra.
