Well-Tempered Chair by Ron Arad (1986)

Well-Tempered Chair by Ron Arad, 1986. A reinterpretation of the overstuffed club chair using 4 thin sheets of tempered steel bent and held together by wing nuts. The sprung steel “Well-Tempered Chair” made design history. The strange formal idiom, the completely novel use of materials, the simple structure and the truly unconventional sitting feeling swiftly made the iconic design known the world over. Manufactured by Vitra Editions, Switzerland.
