A Louisiana Campeche Rocking Chair (early 19th Century)

A Louisiana carved cherry wood Campeche Rocking chair. Distinctive architectural half-round crest, continuous back and seat with leather upholstery and nail head trim, serpentine arms and supports over curule rocker base, pegged and tenoned construction. Interestingly, the distinctive arched crest is essentially a scale model of several documented Louisiana “melon” headboards.
