Caribbean Planter`s Chair (19th Century)

A Caribbean carved mahogany Planter’s chair, probably from the West Indies, the canted caned back joined by scrolled arms, on down swept curved legs. The West Indian variety developed as a result of the influence of the Dutch and English colonies in the Spice Islands and India.
